Following over 20 years delivering development in a corporate environment, I took the decision to work for myself and create Smart Development Services Ltd. My experience and knowledge of how people grow into their role and beyond has stood me in good stead for many years and I can now share that knowledge to a wider audience.
I had the time of my life working for organisations such as St. James’s Place Wealth Management, Ageas UK and Tesco Stores Ltd and although I was in a learning and development role and expected to be the expert, I was also learning at the same time. This has shaped my philosophy for how I work and what I do.
Ensuring “every day is a school day” and never missing the chance to be more self-aware, lead myself more effectively and take every opportunity to grow my knowledge, skills, and behaviours. I was told once that you should never try to be better than others but strive to be better than the person you were yesterday.
Now I am working with a variety of businesses to understand their development needs, (the things that really have a business impact), create bespoke solutions that will address those needs and deliver an intervention that will really achieve a measurable impact.
Working with the small team in Smart Development Services we focus on People Management, Individual development through coaching and Team development with an approach of trust, transparency, and collaboration to ensure any delivery is engaging, empowering, and enlightening. But it doesn’t stop there, whatever is learnt in the classroom can be applied to the day-to-day tasks.
Coaching is a key tool to develop individuals. From supporting development for a particular task to coaching for career decisions. I am ILM level 5 qualified workplace coach; however, I am constantly developing my skills and knowledge in this area and feel I will always be part of the informal coaching university.
When appropriate for the development need, I am an experience practitioner in many psychometric tools, such as Insight Discovery, Hogan and Emotional Intelligence.
And I can also run your team day as a Lego Serious play facilitator.
